Indra is constantly thinking how to incorporate her North American training and a European background into her own art.
Currently Indra works in oils, acrylics and watercolours; as well she does drawings, photographs and knits Currently Indra works at her home studio and also has a studio space at SNAC. Past two years Indra was part of a very diverse group of Silpit building artists, where Indra together with these artists, participated in First Fridays Winnipeg open studio events. |

Drawing upon works by multicultural Canadian artists in different disciplines, this lecture will frame a discussion regarding the complexity of identity, particularly with respect to visible minority, multi-ethnic French Canadian artists. For Lalande, it was the creation of a body of work in celebration of the 200th anniversary of the abolition of slavery that connected her art, her roots and motherhood.
