In this multifaceted exhibition Jannuska explores Indigenous storytelling through a large mixed media comic and a variety of mixed media art pieces. ‘The Wolf and the Eagle in the Rain’ comic focuses on the personal stories of growth and perseverance of knowledge keeper Debbie Huntinghawk (Chapter 1), Julia Stoneman (Chapter 2), and land-based teacher Grace Masse (Chapter 3). The comic is heavily connected to the Brandon, MB community with Jannuska having met all three women while they were all attending Brandon University, and appearances in the comic from other local Brandon elders. The show explores themes of motherhood, community, ceremony, the Red Road, grief, and self-exploration. The comic chapters have given Jannuska the ability to create a visual language for how she views the beautiful intricacies of Indigenous spirituality and healing.

Creative Crossroads is about the place where mediums and influences meet, and where artistic paths are chosen. Each piece evolved organically, one idea leading to another on a road with a destination still unreached. Influenced by the improvisational spirit found in music and traditions like the blues, it reflects a belief that meaningful art is not defined by the resources available to create it, but by the ideas those resources are used to express.
Runs September 1-18.
Artist bio: Mr. Strange is a Winnipeg-based multidisciplinary artist and performer whose work spans burlesque, flow art, and photography. With an irreverent and experimental approach, he works freely across mediums, creating pieces driven by storytelling, emotion, and atmosphere.
In 2011, he co-founded Drawn and Plastered, a series of interdisciplinary art events that nurtured artists in mediums not served by the more traditional drink-and-draw format. This spirit of experimentation and community-building continues to shape every facet of his practice.
He has presented his work at events and festivals across North America, including the Disabilitease Festival in Minneapolis in 2025, with an upcoming performance at the Saskatoon International Burlesque Festival in September 2026 and publication in Tulip Wolf Journal later this year.

Language is Leaving Me encompasses the last ten years of Wilson’s writing and publishing practice. During art school, they began to make and distribute cassettes with friends and bandmates. This DIY approach to cultural production has remained essential to their work as an artist, writer, and publisher.Wilson’s writing and publishing practice is often motivated by the process of navigating and producing texts. He explores how words might reproduce or represent the layered complexities and looping structures of thought. Through encounters with subjects like mysticism, philosophy, spirit photography, and biography, Wilson questions the boundaries of art, criticism, theory, and literature as well as those of looking, seeing, sensing, and reading.

Hamideh Behgar is an Iranian multidisciplinary artist whose work explores memory, migration, and the emotional space between two homelands.
Rooted in the visual and architectural traditions of Persian miniature painting and drawing on the varied snowy landscapes of Manitoba, her practice spans collage, sculpture, and installation.
Behgar holds an MFA from the University of Manitoba and a Bachelor of Graphic Design from the University of Applied Science & Technology in Iran.
