Play: a MAWA members' show + sale
Play exists for enjoyment. It encompasses sports, games and more. To play is to engage, to activate, to take part. One can play a trick or act in a play. It is also a move: “Nice play!” There is an aspect of improvisation, spontaneity and the unexpected to play: making it up as we go along. Play can have goals, literal and figurative, or be open-ended; it can move teams of people to physical prowess or take place in a single imagination; it can provide pleasure in doing and even in being watched. Play is one of the hallmarks of childhood—indeed an important way we learn—but is embraced by humans of all ages, as well as mammals and birds. As artists, making a mark, a stitch, a gesture or a sound intrinsically connects us with play, playfulness and the joy of being.

Joshim Kakegamic: The Litman Collection
Mayberry Fine Art is thrilled to present an exhibition of works by Joshim Kakegamic collected by Dr. Jerry Litman between the 1970s-1980s.
Kakegamic was both a talented and prolific artist, creating a compelling body of work that was uniquely stylized in the midst of what had become a modern Indigenous art movement. As a pioneering member of the Woodlands School of artists, he quickly developed his own sense of identity within his beautiful, smooth line drawings that became the foundation of his paintings.

Urban Shaman Gallery
Warpaint by Brianna Wentz unleashes the raw power of women, non-binary, and BIPOC voices in the metal scene.
The work challenges the oppressive forces of white supremacy, sexism, and homophobia in metal, offering a fierce reclamation of space and identity.
Raised in rural Manitoba, Wentz, who is Swampy Cree, Dene, and Goth, uses gothic subcultures to explore themes of obsession, fetishization, and kinship in the face of colonial assimilation.
