Over the Top Art Auction Opening
See all of the art and start your bidding in a relaxed environment.
Free entry
If you'd like to bid on some artworks, tickets are available for $10.
Over the Top is a silent auction. It brings art lovers and art collectors
together to bid on work donated by over 150 artists.
After two days of pre-bidding, the auction culminates on Sunday, April
7 with a Cupcake Party!
This Over the Top is a special one because it's MAWA's 40th anniversary
AND the 20th iteration of Over the Top.
Over the Top Art Auction raises funds that enable MAWA to provide professional, engaging visual art programming, such as our Mentorship Programs, Critical Discussion Groups, Skills-Based Workshops, Artist Lectures and Cross-Cultural Craft Program.
Thanks to our event sponsor Johnston Group.
Founded in 1984, to encourage and support the intellectual and creative development of women in the visual arts by providing an ongoing forum for education and critical dialogue, MAWA now recognizes the broader spectrum of gender discrimination, and welcomes cis women, trans women and non-binary participants into all programs.

Gladys Chown Memorial Library Open House
Recently, the MCML Library was made available on-line at: https://www.wikilibrary.com/opac/home.php .
We are hosting an Open House, inviting the community to learn more about the wonderful resource of over 3,500 craft and art books available for on-site reading or for lending (if you are an MCML Individual or Family Member).
Visit during First Friday to browse the library, see how the on-line searching works, and to sign up for an MCML membership so you can borrow books! You can even take them home that night.
All MCML memberships purchased at the First Friday event will be discounted by 20%.
Exhibits on display (to April 27)
the quilt show
Showcasing over 15 full size bed quilts and woven blankets, along with several smaller art quilts, and quilting samples, all from the MCML collection.
Diversified
What does Reconciliation and Decolonizing mean for museums?
For MCML it includes (but certainly isn’t limited to) actively working to diversify our museum collection to better reflect the community.
In 2023 we launched a fundraising drive to purchase work by artists from under-represented communities.
Using these funds, MCML purchased works by ten artists.
